Veno-Venous ECMO (VV ECMO) can be utilized as a life-saving intervention for patients who have undergone lung transplantation and are experiencing severe respiratory failure post-transplant. Lung transplant recipients are at high risk for complications that can lead to respiratory failure, including primary graft dysfunction (PGD), infection, rejection, and other complications related to the transplant process.
