Mr. Manickapoopathi T has been associated with us for more than 10years, He was completed his B.Sc., (Perfusion Technology) at (Unit of Frontier Life Line (P) LTD. & DR. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation), Affiliated by Meenakshi Medical University. Completed in the year of 2011-2014 and MBA in Hospital Management at Algappa University, Completed in the year 2018 - 2020 and he also a member of ISECT (Indian society of Extracorporeal Technology)

He is known and well experienced and senior-most leader responsible for overseeing perfusion services in cardiac surgery and other procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass or extracorporeal support.  

He is responsible for managing and leading the perfusion team during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures and other surgeries requiring extracorporeal circulation. His role ensures the highest standards in perfusion practice, oversees the use and maintenance of heart-lung machines, ECMO systems, and other circulatory support technologies, and ensures regulatory compliance, training, and quality assurance within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Leadership

Operate the heart-lung machine and other extracorporeal circulation devices during open-heart and thoracic surgeries.

Manage advanced mechanical circulatory support systems such as ECMO, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and ventricular assist devices (VADs).

Ensure patient safety and optimize perfusion techniques tailored to each case.

Handle emergencies related to circulatory support and device malfunctions.

2. Team Management and Supervision

Lead and supervise a team of perfusionists; assign cases, schedules, and duties.

Oversee training, mentoring, and performance evaluations of junior perfusion staff.

Organize regular team meetings, skill enhancement sessions, and knowledge updates.

3. Equipment and Inventory Oversight

Ensure maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of perfusion equipment, including heart-lung machines, oxygenators, pumps, and disposables.

Liaise with biomedical engineering and vendors for equipment procurement, servicing, and upgrades.

Maintain proper inventory of perfusion-related supplies.

4.Quality Assurance and Safety Compliance

Implement and monitor perfusion protocols in accordance with institutional, national, and international standards 

Lead audits, incident reviews, and documentation of all perfusion procedures.

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department.

5. Education and Research

Conduct in-house training programs, workshops, and CME sessions for perfusion staff and allied professionals.

Promote research, case studies, and presentations in perfusion science.

Stay updated with innovations in perfusion technologies and evidence-based practices.
