Mr. Monesh T has been associated with us for more than 3years, is a vital member of the cardiovascular surgical team, responsible for operating specialized equipment that supports or temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery.
His Clinical Resposibilities :
Clinical Responsibilities:
Operate the heart-lung machine during cardiac and other surgeries requiring cardiopulmonary bypass.
Monitor patient’s vital signs such as blood gases, hemodynamic parameters, and other critical indicators during surgery.
Administer medications and blood products via the perfusion circuit as needed.
Manage blood conservation techniques, including cell salvage and hemodilution.
Utilize other circulatory support devices, such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), ventricular assist devices (VADs), or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
Technical and Equipment Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and maintain perfusion equipment including the heart-lung machine and related devices.
Perform pre-operative equipment checks and calibrations to ensure safety and functionality.
Troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and effectively during surgery.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of perfusion procedures, patient status, and equipment settings.
Report and document any intraoperative complications or irregularities.
Contribute to post-operative evaluations and care planning when required.
Professional Development & Compliance:
Stay updated with advancements in perfusion technology and techniques.
Adhere to hospital protocols, safety regulations, and standards set by regulatory bodies (e.g., American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion).
Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other OR staff to ensure optimal patient care.
Communicate clearly and efficiently during high-pressure situations in the operating room.
